A manuscript critique round includes:
- Two full reads of the manuscript, looking at six story elements—the plot, story structure, theme, character arcs, worldbuilding, and genre
- Items returned after this round:
- the manuscript with full comments
- A 15+-page editorial report with resource links highlighting what works, what needs work, and basic suggestions
- a one-hour video call for questions, brainstorming, and next steps
A substantive editing round focuses on making suggestions for consistency, clarity, and continuity.
A beta reading round is a read through of the entire manuscript prior to copyediting that ensures the manuscript is ready for general readers. We'll determine what works, what doesn't work, how it makes us feel, what grabs our attention, whether the ending make sense, and we'll highlight any questions we have.
A line and copy editing round ensures your manuscript is clear, correct, and readable by fixing spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors, as well as rewriting, breaking up, and streamlining awkward sentences and transitions, substituting stronger words, making suggestions, giving advice, and fact-checking. A style sheet is included.
